For Ubisoft's critically acclaimed title Far Cry 5, STARNO leveraged its deep expertise in hyper-realistic environment creation to bridge the gap between in-game assets and cinematic marketing visuals. The mandate involved transposing iconic locations from the game’s world into high-fidelity Digital Matte Paintings (DMP) used for user interface (UI) backgrounds, main menus, and loading screens.
The creative process involved extensive R&D, with numerous concepts and transposition tests performed to capture the unique "Americana" atmosphere of Hope County. Furthermore, STARNO collaborated with Fly Studio to produce a crucial cinematic animatic for the game's opening. This sequence features a sweeping aerial survey over golden fields, leading the player toward an iconic red American Northwest-style farmhouse, establishing the immediate visual tone of the game.
Far Cry 5 transports players to the fictional Hope County, Montana, in the heart of the American Northwest. This modern-era frontier serves as the backdrop for a tense struggle against the Project at Eden's Gate, a fanatical doomsday cult. The environment is a character in its own right—vast, beautiful, yet profoundly dangerous.
